"MAX CARAMEL" — packaging design for Amazon and Walmart marketplaces
A visual solution that combines Uzbek national flavor with modern premium minimalism in overseas markets.
1. Problem and Task
This time, our client is the "Max Caramel" brand, which aims to bring its line of dried fruits (apricots, raisins) to the US market, specifically to the Amazon and Walmart marketplaces.
The primary requirement set by the client was to develop a reliable packaging that would immediately stand out among thousands of competitors in the overseas market, demonstrating the product's authenticity. And we aimed not only to fulfill this task, but also to give the product a unique visual character and story (storytelling).
2. Research
Any strong design begins with a study of the market and competitors. We analyzed the segment of dried fruits in the United States and the psychology of online shopping.
We have seen that many brands use packaging with a white or Kraft (paper) background and artificial images of fruits. In online sales, because the buyer cannot touch the product, they need to see the real good inside rather than the painted picture. In addition, the main background of the Amazon and Walmart pages is white. We needed a solution that would both inspire trust in the consumer and stand out on a white screen.
3. Solution
We have developed a design that emphasizes the naturalness of the product and is built on the foundation of contrast and nationality, distinguishing it from competitors:
- Black background and premium aesthetics: The black packaging on the white page of the marketplace immediately catches the eye. This color does not make the product look cheap; on the contrary, it gives it a premium and serious status.
- Transparent window (Open part): A transparent part showing the product is left in the center of the packaging. We didn't draw the fruits on the packaging — the golden apricots and raisins themselves became the best visual attraction.
- National patterns: To ensure the product does not become just another dried fruit in the Western market, we incorporated elegant patterns inspired by Uzbek national fabrics into the design. This move gave the packaging a rich historical coloring and a sense of "premium exoticism" for the American buyer.
Result
As a result, a design was developed for the "Max Caramel" brand that is unlike competitors and clearly takes its place in the online storefront. The contrast between the black background and the natural fruit color inside further enhanced the quality of the product.
As the famous designer Joe Sparano said, "Good design is obvious, and perfect design feels natural." The combination of transparency and elegant patterns we used embodied the entire logic of the project, becoming a tool that demonstrates the true nature of the product.
We are waiting for you to showcase your product in the market with dignity.
